Disable Keystrokes From Being Recorded

Follow

With Mouseflow, you can globally disable the capture/tracking of keystrokes.

This is useful if you don't want to track data entered into all of the input field(s) on your website.

When this is enabled, the exclusion happens locally (before any data is sent to Mouseflow).

We have two methods for doing this - depending on whether you want other users to be able to change this setting later (via our user interface) or to make it more difficult to adjust (via a code modification):

Method #1: User Interface

Under Settings, you can click the toggle switch labeled "Disable Keystrokes" and set it to "On".

Method #2: Code

You can add the following line (in bold) to your tracking code:

var mouseflowDisableKeyLogging = true;

A full example:

<script type="text/javascript">
var mouseflowDisableKeyLogging = true;
var _mfq = _mfq || [];
(function() {
var mf = document.createElement("script"); mf.type = "text/javascript"; mf.async = true;
mf.src = "//cdn.mouseflow.com/projects/your-website-id.js";
document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(mf);
})();
</script>

Alternatively, you can exclude certain input fields or exclude/replace content during playback or on heatmaps.
