Exclude or Replace Content on Pages During Playback or on Heatmaps

Follow

With Mouseflow, you can exclude or replace certain parts of pages from being displayed during playback or in heatmaps.

This is important for financial or sensitive information throughout a website.

Excluding Content

To exclude content during playback or on heatmaps, you can use our 'data-mf-replace'-attribute. It allows you to hide/replace an element. An example:

<div>
<p>Here's some text</p>
<p data-mf-replace="">Content to Exclude</p>
<p>Here's more text</p>
</div>

In playback, this HTML code would be shown like this:

<div>
<p>Here's some text</p>
<p>Here's more text</p>
</div>

It's also possible to exclude only the inner part of an element, using the attribute 'data-mf-replace-inner' instead:

<div>
<p>Here's some text</p>
<p data-mf-replace-inner="">Content to Exclude</p>
<p>Here's more text</p>
</div>

In this case, the result would be:

<div>
<p>Here's some text</p>
<p></p>
<p>Here's more text</p>
</div>

Replacing Content

It's also possible not only to remove content, but to replace it with something else during playback or on heatmaps. To do this, simply add a value to the 'data-mf-replace'-attribute:

<div>
<p>Here's some text</p>
<p data-mf-replace="Text has been removed">Content to Exclude</p>
<p>Here's more text</p>
</div>

In playback, this HTML code would be shown like this:

<div>
<p>Here's some text</p>
Text has been removed
<p>Here's more text</p>
</div>

Again, it's also possible to replace only the inner part of an element:

<div>
<p>Here's some text</p>
<p data-mf-replace-inner="Text has been removed">Content to Exclude</p>
<p>Here's more text</p>
</div>

In this case, the result would be:

<div>
<p>Here's some text</p>
<p>Text has been removed</p>
<p>Here's more text</p>
</div>

Alternatively, you can exclude certain input fields or you can completely disable keystrokes from being recorded.
