When viewing a heatmap most of your links get an overlay box that shows how many times the link has been clicked or other measures, depending on your selection. But if some of your links don’t get this overlay box then it can be caused by the following:
- The link is not a real hyperlink or form element (<a> or <form> element). These are the only elements that are automatically detected by the the Link Analytics feature. To detect other elements, such as a <div> styled to look like a button, you can add class="mf-listen" to the element.
- No visitors have interacted with the link yet
- If your page changes frequently and the link doesn’t have an ID tag (in the HTML code) then Mouseflow might have difficulties recognizing and grouping the links on your page. A resolution to this is to add an ID tag to your link.
<a href=”/shop/checkout”>Proceed to checkout</a>
<a href=”/shop/checkout” id=”checkout_link”>Proceed to checkout</a>
<a href=”/shop/checkout” class="mf-listen">Proceed to checkout</a>
